This news has been reported by WinBeta. When the device was launched, it had huge expectations at the market but in December 2013, its performance was below par and this must be one major reason why the company wanted to upgrade its processor to make it more credible at the market.
All the existing users are now going for the upgrade since it will give a finishing touch to the Surface Pro 2. Some of the users were so annoyed with the performance of Surface Pro 2 that they returned the gadget after using it for some time. This was taken as a shock by Microsoft and they started working on the upgrading of processor. The developers went deep into the nature of the problem and found out that the problem lied in the performance of its processor. It processor has now been upgraded to i5 4300U processor which is clocked at 1.9 GHz-2.5 GHz.
The processor update has been finally confirmed by the developers of Microsoft after being poked by the media. However, they have not explained the reason for the upgrade. It is quite understandable why they have not stated the reason for upgrade, given that the previous version of Surface Pro 2 was serving very bad performance and it had been given back by most of the clients. If Microsoft releases such a statement, it would be a blot on their image and their product’s reputation in the market so the company has silently upgraded the processor of the device.
Microsoft has been regular in bringing out little changes to all its products during their life cycle. There are an ample of factors that contribute to the changes namely supply chain partnerships, availability and the value that they give to the customers from the product. This had been stated by a spokesperson of Microsoft. Microsoft’s policy claims that they do not make any hardware changes but try to affect significant software changes in order to give great performance to the devices.
